Our Story

Jonathan and I met online on OKCupid.com when Jonathan sent me a message introducing himself.

He complimented me on my smile and I thought he was very charming. He initially peaked my interest when I noticed we had an 89% match rate. We began to talk and before I knew it, we were talking everyday for hours on the phone. The chemistry was definitely there. So after nearly two months of talking, we decided it was time for Jonathan to come to Monroe so we could meet face-to-face. I was beyond excited to actually see him. That weekend we got to know each other and little better and had our first date.

How we met: Kaneesha's Side

When we met: Jonathan's Side

From the very beginning, Kaneesha had my attention and I wanted to spend every moment talking to her.

I was so excited to finally see Kaneesha face-to-face that I could hardly wait to get off work!  After driving two hours, I finally saw that beautiful smile in person. The weekend was wonderful but before it was over there was something I needed to tell her. I gently held her hand and looked deeply into her beautiful brown eyes and told her I loved her and want to be in a relationship with her. Taken by surprise, she smiled and confirmed the beginning of our relationship with a big hug.

The Engagement: Jonathan's Side

After dating for one year and six months, I knew that it was time to take our relationship to the next level.

So I purchased the ring, then asked Kaneesha's parents permission to marry her. They were thrilled and offered their blessings. I wanted this proposal to be special so I invited her family and friends to meet us at El Chico's Mexican Restaurant (Mexican food is our favorite) at 6:30pm. Meanwhile, Kaneesha didn't have a clue about what was taking place. So about 6:15pm Kaneesha and I left for dinner. I told her to close her eyes because I had a surprise waiting on her in the restaurant. I guided her in with her eyes closed, then I told to open them. Everyone started cheering, when she turn around I proposed to her and the rest is history.

The Engagement: Kaneesha's Side

I didn't know what Jonathan had up his sleeve that day. All I know that he was acting very secretive, but I still went with the flow. He really surprised me. When I opened my eyes and saw all my Monroe friends and family, I was thinking, "it's not my birthday" then I turned back to look at Jonathan and he was talking. I'm not sure I was even processing what was going on until he got down on his knee. I said, "YES!" because there is no one else that I would rather spend the rest of my life.
